Smart Cities Lab and the Texas Innovation Alliance are action networks dedicated to providing forward-thinking cities a safe space to grapple collectively with the challenges of this revolution. We work hand-in-hand with transportation leaders from 20 leading cities and on their behalf because we believe that locally-driven, collective action is required to accelerate progress to scalable solutions. Cities and regions can do far more together than alone, and they can turbocharge these efforts when they reach across sectors to engage partners early in the solution development process.

Over the past six months, our organizations have put participating cities through an extensive visioning and assessment process designed to surface their most important mobility challenges. This process is yielding not only a consensus list of priority projects in five areas, but also the need for a Mobility Innovation Challenge that workshops these challenges with domain experts to apply new tech tools to actual problems.
Transportation agencies will have an opportunity to workshop priority project ideas with technical and industry leaders – defining scope, formulating concepts, and preparing innovation opportunities for a reverse pitch. Through this process, transportation agencies will work hand-in-hand with technical coaches – building close working relationships, identifying potential business opportunities, and gaining expertise – early in the process, when input matters most.
